A Weekend Hike

Yesterday, we packed up the kids and went for a hike up Upper Table Rock. It was a foggy drive and a mostly foggy hike, but alas, it was clear on top. Just blue above and white below. It was almost surreal to be surrounded by a sea of clouds. Here are a few shots from the trip.

Caveman Basketball

The Cavemen took on South Salem last Friday. They picked up their second win of the season bringing them to (2-2).

Lady Cavers!

I love shooting sports and have enjoyed shooting most of the home football games at GPHS this fall. However, as winter comes around, things seem to be busier for me and I just don’t have as much time to shoot basketball games. So it was a special treat this last Friday to be able to take photos of the Lady Cavers as they defeated the Titans. This is the first basketball game I’ve made it to this year. It was a lot of fun and I hope to make it to more games as the season progresses. They are off to a great start (3-0). If you have a chance, I encourage you to support the team and attend an upcoming game. Here is one of my favorite shots of the evening.

Christmas Photos

Textures

Applying textures to photographs seems to be a current trend in photography. I’m not sure how much I like it, but it has been interesting to play around with. Here is a shot from last summer that I applied several textures to. If this interests you at all, check out Jesh Rox (www.finearttextures.com). He certainly has a unique style when it comes to this look.

Here are some photos of Jeff Nicholson’s concert at Mountain Christian Fellowship. It was absolutely amazing. Keep your eyes out for another concert; he is definitely worth checking out.

Lensbabies

I wandered into Photoden on Saturday and left with a new Lensbaby. Abby and I were headed to the park for some play time and I thought it would be fun to try this lens out. It’s going to take some getting used to, but I think the results will be worth it. Here is my favorite shot of the day.

Not again!

That’s what my kids say whenever a new photography toy shows up in the mail. This time it was a new backdrop from Adorama. Much to their dislike, Benjamin and Abigail where once again my test subjects Friday evening. I did manage to get this shot before they were done for the night.

POV Photography

I’ve been experimenting with POV photography. I would like to start offering senior photo shoots that really capture what my clients are doing at this time in their life. This self portrait was taken while cycling last Friday.

It’s football time!

More shots from Lake of the Woods.

I took the family up to Fish Lake for a pick-nick yesterday. We needed a little time away form the house. We also spent a little time at Lake of the Woods and Howard Prairie Lake. I took these photos on our way back home. We had a wonderful day.

Two weeks ago my sister came down to Grants Pass with her daughters. It was a great opportunity to go out for a photo shoot. These are a few of my favorites from the day.

Grants Pass had such wonderful weather last night! My wife and I took the kids on an evening bike ride. They had so much fun. It’s so nice as parents to see our children so happy and alive. We are truly blessed.

Bandon

I had a great time in Bandon last weekend with my family. It was one of our best trips ever! The weather was great and the kids loved spending the entire day riding their bikes and playing on the beach. They were sad to come home after such a great trip. They are ready to go back.

This was taken last night from my back door. We haven’t had a thunder storm like this in Grants Pass for some time. My kids had trouble sleeping; they spent a lot of time holding on to mom and dad!

Two weeks ago I went with Kevin Snyder from cmImagery.com on a night shoot. We hiked up Table Rock to get some evening shots. I will post some photos from the shoot in the coming weeks.

It’s about time to get some photos up of my son. This shot was taken in Grants Pass. We have a hard time getting him to smile without being “cheesy“ so this was a great catch!

Over the next three weeks I’m going to post some work from the last few months. This shot was taken in Grants Pass. It’s one of my favorite photos of my daughter. I think it captures her excitement for life. She is such a blessing to my family.

I spent a wonderful Saturday exploring Jacksonville with my daughter. We spent some time wandering around the local farms and then headed into town to do some shopping and have lunch at the Bella Union. I’m sure we will be back this summer for one of the Brit Festival Concerts. This is definitely a “must-see” town if you are traveling in Southern Oregon.
