Last Trip of 2009 - Sunset Bay

Christmas Day we loaded up the van and took our last road trip in 2009. We were a little leery about our outing because the weather was not looking very promising - not unusual for December in Oregon! However, in the end, we decided a mini-vacation was much needed and set out for the Oregon Coast. It has often been said that if you don’t like the weather in Oregon, just wait a minute! How true those words became. In our four days at Sunset Bay and the surrounding area we only had one afternoon of light rain. The rest of the time was simply amazing. We were able to hike, whale watch, visit the incredible light display at Shore Acres, ride bikes, play in the sand, and of course, eat s’mores! It truly was an epic trip! Here are just a handful of photographs to show just how breathtaking the Oregon Coast can be in December.

Paul

This last Saturday I met up with Paul for his senior photos. Paul is a foreign exchange student from Germany. He is enjoying his stay in Grants Pass and mentioned several times how much he likes seeing the mountains that surround our wonderful town. It turns out Paul’s dad is an avid photographer that loves to shoot landscapes. I hope I get to see his work sometime! The weather was great on Saturday (overcast days make for exceptional defused lighting) and we were able to get to several locations for photos. I’m posting a few shots right away for Paul and his family with a full gallery of images coming soon.

I miss you July!

It’s been so incredibly cold lately. I was going through some photos for our 2010 calendar and found this shot from July. It’s only December and I’m longing for summer - not a good sign!
