Table Rock - Nature Photography
As I mentioned last week, the BLM was offering a Nature Photography hike this weekend. Benjamin, Abigail, and I joined the group led by David Sherman. It was a great day and we managed to capture some nice images. Abby is becoming quite the hiker - this is her third trip up the Table Rocks in just two weeks! We are joining The Audubon Society next week on a jaunt around the Lower Table Rock Loop at dusk. The leaders will attempt to lure pygmy owls, great horned owls, and screech owls for us to see. Should be exciting!

Upper Table Rock - Day Hike
Abigail and Benjamin joined a group of students for an interpretive hike on Upper Table Rock yesterday. I was able to join them for a few hours and managed to photograph a few different flowers than we saw on the Lower Table Rock hike last week. The weather was amazing - I hope Spring is here to stay!

Table Rock - Flowers Abound
Abigail and I joined one of the BLM and Nature Conservancy Interpretive Hikes yesterday. It was called “Wildflowers Abound.” The hike was led by Barbara Mumblo, Botanist with the U.S. Forest Service, Siskiyou Mountains Ranger District and member of the Native Plant Society of Oregon. Barbara has an incredible amount of knowledge that she loves to share. We hiked the Lower Table Rock and were able to see some of the most beautiful flowers - it was a perfect day and we enjoyed it very much. One of the highlights for me was seeing the Dwarf Wooly Meadowfoam. This little flower grows nowhere else on earth! If you want to see it with your own eyes you have to hike the Upper or Lower Table Rocks. Thanks Barbara for the wonderful hike! Also, check out BLM’s website for more upcoming hikes. The one on Nature Photography on the 18th of April looks especially good! Here are a few of the wildflowers we enjoyed:

The Egg Hunt
For the last few weeks my kids have been asking to participate in the Riverside Park Easter Egg Hunt. They see the sign every time they pass the park. We decided to give it a shot - the kids loved it! I’m not so sure it was worth the time. There were hundreds of kids and the entire event lasted about two minutes. I’ve never seen so many kids move so fast in my life. It was quite the entertainment. Abigail was thrilled to come home with a basket of eggs. She promptly pulled out the mayonnaise and made herself an egg salad sandwich for lunch. Here is one of my favorite shots of the day. Keziah managed to find a small selection of eggs that she could collect all by herself.
